As we approach the final days of Hispanic Heritage Month, we invite you to check out the September 25 keynote speaker Dr. Obed Arango Hisijara, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania and the founder and executive director of the Center for Culture, Art, Work, and Education (CCATE), a nonprofit organization located in the Philadelphia metro area, talks about how the history, philosophy, education, participatory research, and resources of the center have significantly contributed to social changes in the Philadelphia area.
Dr. Hisijara took us through the journey of a Latino immigrant community living and thriving in Philadelphia. The conversation highlights how the drive for innovation, resilience, and unity characterizes the Hispanic experience. It also underscores Paulo Freire’s dialogical pedagogy, which emphasizes dialogue as a means of learning, teaching, and creating critical awareness.
