Don’t miss Excelsior’s Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month with Dr. Jacob Diaz

In celebration of this year’s Hispanic Heritage Month, the Center for Social Justice, the Race and Ethnicity Rope Team, and the First generation Rope Team hosted a conversation with Jacob Diaz, EdD, regional associate vice chancellor for student success and dean of students at the University of South Florida’s St. Petersburg campus.

As a nationally recognized student affairs leader, Diaz has nearly three decades of experience advancing student success, equity, and belonging in higher education. He brings both lived experience and professional expertise to his work—demonstrating how education can transform lives and open pathways to possibility. In his talk, titled “Amplifying Narratives in the Academy: One Chicano’s Story of His Journey in Higher Education,” Diaz shared his personal journey, highlighting the importance of representation, mentorship, and creating spaces for Latin leaders to thrive.
