Recent Events Conversation
Excelsior University, the Center for Social Justice, and its diversity of Rope Teams recognize that, for many of us, the past few weeks have been intense, scary, humbling, and/or challenging. We believe that this is an important time for dialogue, healing, and community building, so we will be facilitating a series of recent events conversations to debrief together in an attempt to strengthen the rope team(s) that sustain us and that allow us to take care of others who need support.
In alignment with higher education’s foundational emphases on dialectic, interdisciplinary, and collaborative research, discourse, problem-solving, and innovation, this moment offers a unique and critical opportunity to engage with each other in multi-perspective dialogue. In multi-perspective dialogue, we approach others assuming the same level of complexity in their perspectives and experiences as the complexity we assume in our own, regardless of our capacity to understand viewpoints and journeys we have not experienced. We approach one another to listen, to show compassion, to learn, to grow, and to find new ways of engaging in community and collaboration.
We are looking forward to our conversation!
