Disability Pride Month 2026

Every July, we celebrate Disability Pride Month, honoring the disability community while recognizing the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), signed into law on July 26, 1990. This year’s theme, “The World Works Better With Us,” reminds us that inclusion benefits everyone. More than 1 in 4 U.S. adults, which means over 70 million people live with a disability, and their leadership, innovation, and advocacy have helped create everyday improvements such as curb cuts, closed captioning, audiobooks, and voice-to-text technology. Disability Pride is about recognizing disability as a natural part of human diversity and ensuring every person has the opportunity to participate fully in school, work, healthcare, and community life.

Disability Pride Month is also a call to action. While progress has been made, many individuals with disabilities continue to face barriers to education, employment, healthcare, and equal opportunity. This month encourages us to move beyond awareness by embracing respect, accessibility, and meaningful inclusion in the decisions that shape our communities. When we remove barriers and value every person’s contribution, we create stronger workplaces, more welcoming neighborhoods, and a society where everyone can thrive, because the world truly works better with all of us.
