Balancing Military Experience with Education and Career

Wondering if you can pursue a career after your military experience? How about working towards a degree or certification while in the military?

It can be done!

Let’s hear what Excelsior staff member, Roberto Morales has to say. But first, here’s a little background on Roberto and where he’s from:

I was born in south central Texas several hundred miles from the US-Mexico border. I attended public school and graduated from New Braunfels High School, located in New Braunfels, Texas, a small community founded by German immigrants in 1845. The community has always had some sense of cultural diversity as evident by the large Hispanic population, primarily of Mexican descent, in the region and the founding of the city by German immigrants.

Roberto joined the military after high school and taking on a few jobs locally. Then, he joined the military, spending 13 years in the Army. Here’s what Roberto has to say about his military experience:

My Army experience exposed me to people and places all over the world. I am also an alumni of Excelsior University earning a BS Political Science in 1993 while serving in the Middle East (Israel and Egypt) while a member of the US Army and Multinational Forward Observer Force (MFO). Just being an example of one can earn a degree while serving in the military from almost anywhere in the world.
